Ce site accompagne le film A BRIGHT LIGHT – KAREN AND THE PROCESS et en raconte le tournage.
Tourné par trois femmes – Emmanuelle Antille à la réalisation, Carmen Jaquier à la caméra et Malika Pellicioli au son, A BRIGHT LIGHT – KAREN AND THE PROCESS suit les traces de Karen Dalton, musicienne culte des années 60 et traverse les Etats-Unis à la rencontre de ceux qui la connaissaient et ceux qu’elle influence aujourd’hui encore.
En 33 jours de tournage, le trio parcourt près de 8000 kilomètres et passe par 17 Etats. Parties de Denver en voiture avec 150 kilos de matériel, Emmanuelle, Carmen et Malika sillonnent le Colorado et ses villages fantômes, descendent jusqu’à la Nouvelle-Orléans en passant par Enid, ville natale de Karen, puis remontent sur Bentonia, Bloomington, Charlottesville, Baltimore, Philadelphie, New York et Woodstock.
A la fois carnet de bord et journal intime, ce site retrace leur périple à travers 27 vidéos inédites issues des 140 heures d’images rapportées. Conçu comme une œuvre artistique à part entière, THE JOURNEY a été imaginé comme une carte à la fois géographique et allégorique de ce voyage.

This website accompanies the film A BRIGHT LIGHT – KAREN AND THE PROCESS and narrates its shooting.
Shot by three women – Emmanuelle Antille film director, Carmen Jaquier chief operator and Malika Pellicioli sound engineer, A BRIGHT LIGHT – KAREN AND THE PROCESS follows in the footsteps of Karen Dalton, a cult musician of the 60s, across the United States and encounters those who knew her and those she still influences today.
In 33 days of shooting, the trio covers nearly 8000 kilometers and crosses 17 states. Emmanuelle, Carmen and Malika drove from Denver with 150 kilos of equipment, travelling through Colorado and its ghost towns, down to New Orleans via Karen’s hometown of Enid, then up to Bentonia, Bloomington, Charlottesville, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Woodstock.
Both logbook and diary, this website retraces their trip through 27 exclusive videos from the 140 hours of footage. Conceived as an artistic work, it has been imagined as both a geographical and allegorical map of this journey.
